Automotive Tint – FAQ

  • Q. Does Window Film go on the inside or the outside of the vehicle?

  • A. This question is the number one question we get asked. Window film is cut to fit and formed to your vehicle on the outside of the vehicle, and finally a thin protective liner is removed and the window film is then applied to the inside of your windows.
  • Q. How long does it take to tint a car?

  • A. Every vehicle is different, some 2 door vehicles take more time than certain SUV’s and even though you may tint 2 Honda Accords, one might take less time than the other. The average time to tint a vehicle is between 1 ½ to 2 hours. Depending on the vehicle. Each time we tint a car we take all needed precautions and steps to ensure an excellent final product. Orlando Window Tint Specialists employees take pride in the superiority of our workmanship because of our attention to detail and our desire to make your vehicle look great. Not everything comes out perfect the first time around, so if needed we will take the extra time to replace any pieces of film that do not meet quality standards. This can add to the length of time it takes to complete your vehicle.

  • Q. Why do I see all these signs for $99 window tint jobs, why do you charge more?

  • A. This is a very common question. There are a number of fly by night window tinting companies that open and close under different names in different locations. These people seem to use the $99 tint job to get a number of first time customers. The films they use are always sub-par and can fail as soon as 6 months after purchasing (we’ve seen it!). Ask yourself this very simple question how many cars have you seen with purple, bubbly, nasty looking window tint? That’s the $99 tint job. All of the window films we carry will come with manufacturer backed guarantees, and are top quality. CPFilms Inc, LLumar, and Hüper Optik are all industry leading brands.
  • Q. How long has Orlando Window Tint Specialists been in business?

  • A. Orlando Window Tint Specialists was established in 2004 as Matt’s Window Tinting and has since grown and evolved into the company it is today.
  • Q. Can you tint my sunroof?

  • A. Sunroof glass is not made the same way your side windows are, and therefore cannot absorb as much heat as they do. Window film can cause the glass to get so hot it will break. We do not tint sunroofs.
  • Q. Are you mobile or do I have to bring my car to you?

  • A. Orlando Window Tint Specialists tints at a number of dealerships around the Orlando Area. We have tinted cars in peoples garages, in their parking lots, and some even in the middle of a grassy field. We do not tint mobile for a number of reasons: A climate and environmentally controlled atmosphere with limited airborne debris, no wind, and no dust will always produce a better installation. Some people are satisfied with an O.K. tint job, for those are looking for a perfect installation is it nearly impossible to achieve that in your garage. Mobile installers are forced to use your car is their cutting boards, cutting on your glass with their razor blades, they will use your car to peel the window film, causing the dirt and grime from your car to drip into the film and become bubbles in your window film. Mobile installers have to cut everything on your car, leaving the opportunity for them to cut up your rubber gaskets, or even worse – your paint! For these reasons, Orlando Window Tint Specialists does not mobile tint, and does not recommend a mobile installation.
  • Q. What is computer cut window film?

  • A. Computer cut window film is the newest technology in window film installation. Orlando Window Tint Specialists does not computer cut window film. The patterns for the programs do not always fit correctly and more often than not need to be touched up for a perfect installation.
  • Q. Do you cut the tint on my car?

  • A. No, All window film is measured using proprietary techniques and is trimmed on a clean glass surface to avoid any possible damage to your vehicle.
  • Q. Do I need to clean my car before I tint it?

  • A. The cleaner your car is, the easier it is for us to give you a perfect tint job. A quick carwash is always a good idea. Keep in mind that we will be spraying water on your windows so it is not necessary to get the vehicle detailed as you may need to clean the exterior of the vehicle once it is done.
